This Inauguaration means CHANGE

The United States of America is about to make history once again. The swearing in of the first African American President. With the inauguration only a few days away, I am so proud to be an American. I am so happy that I am able to see this in my lifetime. I am even more excited that my Mother and my five year old grand nephew are able to experience this moment in history. My grandparents and great grandparents growing up in Mississippi and Southeast Missouri did not have the right to vote. Since the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and less than 50 years later an African American man has been elected President. I stress African American. I am so proud of how we all came together to make this change happen. We are all the United States of America. I want to remember the feeling the moment the announcement was made that Barack Obama has been elected the 44thPresident of the United States. I want to remember the swearing in ceremony. The atmosphere at that moment. I wonder what the conversations will be on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Will it be business as usual? There seems to be a since of change already. A change in the way we think, how we conduct business, how we respect ourselves and each other. I know everyone doesn’t see this change and may never will but for those of us who do, let’s do our part to help President elect Obama make the changes necessary to be a better country, to restore pride and hope to the American People. Personally, I am going to do better. I have visions and dreams that will manifest. I will live everyday like it was my last. Not putting things off but doing them today. Giving back to the community. Enjoying my life, my family and my friends. Thanking God for everything, big and small. Tomorrow is not promised. What are your thoughts on this historical day?
